Instructor leading a small reformer and Cardio-Tramp class, showing a regular weekly Pilates routine

How often should you do reformer Pilates?

It is one of the most common questions we hear: how many times a week should I do reformer Pilates to actually see a difference? The honest answer is that it depends on you, but here is a clear guide.

The short answer: two or three times a week

For most people, two to three reformer sessions a week is the sweet spot. That is enough to build real, lasting strength and mobility while giving your body time to recover and adapt in between. It is a rhythm that fits around a normal life, too.

If you can only manage once a week

One consistent session a week absolutely still counts, and consistency beats intensity every time. You will build strength more gradually, but you will still feel steadier, more mobile and more comfortable in your body. Turning up week after week is what creates change, not the occasional heroic effort.

Can you do too much?

Because reformer Pilates is low-impact and supported, it is gentle enough that many people practise several times a week happily. That said, recovery is where your body actually gets stronger, so a rest day between sessions is sensible, especially at first. Your instructor will help you find a rhythm that challenges you without wearing you down.

Consistency, not perfection

The best routine is the one you will actually keep. Many of our members hold a recurring weekly slot for exactly this reason: same class, same time, no decision to make. Find a rhythm you can sustain, and let it quietly change how you move.
